Location
Frontenas is a famous Beaujolais Pierre d’Orée vineyard village with two local viticulteurs who open their caves up in autumn for the Beaujolais nouveau each year. It is also a commuter village for nearby Villefranche, and Lyon.
Frontenas is also a popular holiday location for walking, cycling, and equestrian activities, with many gites in the area, It has its own historic monument – a medieval Romanesque chapel, and many nearby famous villages with gourmet eating, and winetasting.
For permanent residents there is a lovely primary school, and nursery in the village centre. There is the attractive Marie buildings, and traditional ‘Lavoir’ as well as a large park with tennis, football pitch, and boules, and a multi functional village hall. There is a local doctor, and small village cooperative shop.
In half an hour Lyon can be reached with all it’s fantastic sights, museums and art galleries as well as the famous ‘Vieux Lyon’ with all its gastronomic delights. Closer still is beautiful Villefranche with its famous high street and cathedral, and fantastic boutiques.
Access
Frontenas is easily accessed by road, by car or bus. Local train stations are at Lozanne (15mins),and Villefranche (20 mins). The nearest airport is the fantastic Lyon St Exupery (30 mins), via the A46 at Anse (15 mins). Access to the A6 ‘autoroute du soleil’ motorway linking Paris to Lyon, is at Villefranche (20 mins). Access to the A89 is at Arbresle (15 mins) linking Lyon to Bordeaux via Clermont-Ferrand.
The airport can also be accessed by train from Villefranche, or the centre of Lyon.
The beaches on the Cote d'Azur or Languedoc can be reached in 4-6 hours, and the Alps for winter sports- 3 hours.
Interior
The Interior of the house is painted neutral colour on plasterboard, with tiles to floor of main living area, (30.61 m2) and wooden laminate in the hall and bedrooms, as well as downstairs. There is a solid staircase from the upstairs hallway leading down to the basement rooms. There are double glazed windows and electric heating as well as the wood burning stove.
Master bedroom (13.92m2) looks over vineyard opposite, and has built in storage. Single bedrooms are 10.59 m2 with built in storage, and 9.64m2. Exterior
The large garden is kept private with walls to the front gated driveway, and fencing and large fir trees surrounding the rest of the garden. The driveway is a gravelled, terraced area with steps down to house entrance. Most of the garden is lawn, with some bushes, roses, lavender and rosemary near the foot of the house.
