Abondance is located in the French department of Haute-Savoie, 4 km from Châtel and 30 km from Lake Geneva. The village is situated south of Lake Geneva on the Dranse river. The ski area of Abondance (l'Essert) itself is relatively small and mainly suitable for beginners. Families with children will also enjoy themselves in the Abondance ski area. The large Les Portes du Soleil is the perfect area for both novice and advanced skiers. From the nearby La Chapelle d'Abondance, you have access to this vast ski area.

Abondance is a characterful village consisting of six different hamlets. The major attraction of the village is the abbey dating back to the 12th century. You can stroll through the streets and enjoy the authentic architecture. Other special winter sports activities you can undertake include driving on a snow circuit, ice skating, ski joëring, and snowshoeing. During a winter sports holiday in Abondance, you cannot miss tasting the famous local cheese. This cheese shines in both a cheese fondue and during an apéritif.
